Prayer & Presbyterians

Prayer is the basis of spiritual growth for Presbyterians, supported by the Scriptures. Among the prayer events scheduled at West Side during the year are:

  • Prayer vigils and special prayer meetings.
  • Chapel Prayer Group. This is a group that offers intercessory prayers for members of our church family and other special needs and concerns.
  • Prayer Partners. West Siders are paired up during the 40 days of Lent to pray for each other, with the goal of deepening the spiritual connection between them.

The Labyrinth

A Labyrinth Prayer Service, led by Anne Deatly, will take place on the third Wednesday of the month throughout the program year.

A labyrinth is a complex circular pathway used as an aid to meditation and self-discovery. West Side has an indoor labyrinth in the Chapel at Lent and various times during the church year. Announcements of these opportunities are in the bulletin.

The Spiritual Growth Committee, which sponsors the labyrinth, hopes to build a permanent outdoors labyrinth in the future.
