Taizé Worship

Please note: During Lent, the weekly Taizé service will be replaced by Lenten worship. For a full description, see the Adult Education page under Christian Education.

A half-hour Taizé worship service, led by Anne Deatly, is celebrated during the school year at 7:30 p.m. (this is a half-hour later than last year's service) on Wednesday evenings in our Chapel. The Taizé service is a service of prayer, Scripture reading, singing, and informal communion or anointing by candlelight; no collection is taken. The songs of Taizé, composed in many different languages and with piano accompaniment, are made up of a simple phrase sung over and over again, which gradually penetrates the heart through repetition.

Taizé takes place each Wednesday from 7:30 to 8 p.m. in West Side's Chapel. Each week's service is slightly different. On the first Wednesday of the month, there will be communion led by Rev. William Chapman. On the third Wednesday, we will walk the labyrinth. On the fourth Wednesday of the month, Taizé is a service of healing and wholeness.

Everyone is invited to this special worship experience.
