Newsletter: West Side Press

For budgetary reasons, publication of the church newsletter has been suspended for the remainder of 2010.  All information and announcements will be included in the Sunday bulletin, posted each week on this website (top of page).  All members are encouraged to check the website on a regular basis.

We will be relying primarily on the Sunday bulletin, this website, and email for the majority of our communication.  If you have not already done so, please make sure the church office has your email address by sending an email to either Carol Walton (Carol@westside.org) or Lisa Stitt (Lisa@westside.org).

DIRECTORY UPDATE So just where is that membership directory we were supposed to get in April?  We are in a time of shifting circumstance.  The initial delay was due to the Deacons being in the midst of contacting members to update information.  Now we are headed into a period during which we will experience a lot of transition.  The feeling is that towards the end of the summer some of the transitional pieces will be nailed down, so we are planning to instead publish in the fall.

To all our members who have purchased blocks in the business directory as well as those who simply wanted something to replace the 2008 directory, we apologize for the delay.  We will be providing church leadership with a simple pdf file of membership during coming weeks.  Anyone who is interested in being listed in the business directory, we are therefore able to make that option available through the end of July.  Contact Lisa Stitt if you would like to add a listing to the business directory: lisa@westside.org or 201-652-1966, ext. 39.

Lay Ministry "Green Form"

The Lay Ministry Committee very much needs every member to complete a "Green Form"–Time and Talents Survey. You can choose from two different versions. There is an Excel spreadsheet which will allow you to complete your survey electronically (then save and email to West Side) or a PDF, which you can print out and complete by hand, then either bring or mail it to the church. Thank you for your assistance!Excel Version of Survey [xls]    PDF Version of Survey [pdf]

The A B C's Of West Side
Susan Gardner has produced an "ABC" book of West Side entitled W is for West Side, which though targeted towards younger members of the congregation, is also entertaining and informative for adults. For each letter of the alphabet, there are photos of locations and items found around West Side and a Bible verse. W is for West Side  books are available at $45. per copy. With Easter, Confirmation, and graduations coming up, these books will make wonderful gifts for family members and friends. There are at least 26 good reasons to own one of these spiritual and meaningful books. The 27th reason: all proceeds will go to West Side. Order forms are available in the gallery (you can leave them with Carol Walton in the main office).
