Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Ministries Within West Side

God asks us to give of our time and resources. There are many ways to do that, and new
ones arise every day. Some are one-shot opportunities and others are longer-term. Below are some ways to serve our congregation. In addition,
click here to go to our Local Missions page, where there are many places listed where you can get involved in the ministries and mission
of West Side.

Sunday Mornings

Every Sunday morning, volunteers fill a number of roles, serving as ushers, greeters, coffee hosts, offering counters, Sunday School teachers and helpers, child care providers in the Nursery, lay readers, and participants in the procession of worship elements.  If you are interested in helping in any of these ways, just put a note in the offering plate, or call the church office during the week

Greeters at Concerts

Greeters are needed for concerts. The Invitation and Membership Council (I&M) is looking for volunteers to be greeters at concerts held at West by outside groups. If you are interested, please see or email Donna Burdick.

Pew Pals

Pew Pals keep the pews in good order by replacing pencils and prayer cards and an occasional pew pad. This can be a big job when programs build up or when special offering envelopes are included. If you are willing to be one of several helpers on an "as needed" basis, please contact Mary Bugel. You will make a grateful friend for a small commitment of time.

MinistryLink

The MinistryLink team continues to work on interviewing all of the members of our congregation to get to know each member better. Knowing you better will help in linking you to the part of the West Side ministry that gives you the most sense of fulfillment in your journey with us as a community of faith. When a MinistryLink team member asks to sit and interview you (which takes about 20 minutes), please answer with an enthusiastic Yes! Help us create a more complete description of what our West Side family is all about through this compilation of information about all of us.

Coffee Hour Sponsorship

Sponsoring Coffee Hour has been one way that we have been able to continue providing this fellowship time every Sunday morning. Sponsorship is $50 and does not require hosting (we have volunteers for that). See the sign-up sheet at the Coffee Table or contact Lisa Stitt at ext. 39 to sign up.

Youth Self-Development (YSD)

Both of our schools are undergoing basic changes which probably will not affect our tutoring program, but have delayed our start. We are happy to report a new English tutor will join us, and we hope there is another math tutor out there thinking about it! For more information, contact Mary-Elizabeth Collins or Kathy Koop

Dedication of Sanctuary Flowers

Requesting sanctuary flowers is a wonderful way to remember a loved one or to celebrate
a special occasion. If you wish to dedicate flowers, please contact Sue Staples.
