An Evening of Irish Song and Poetry

An Evening of Irish Song and Poetry

March 11, 2023 7:30pm

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day a few days early with the celebrated Irish duo Owen and Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin! The brothers, who hail from Limerick, will perform a repertoire of song and poetry that has been handed down from their family and wider Irish tradition, along with original songs. The program is called A Stór Mo Chroí, O Love of my Heart.

Owen and "Moley" are from one of Ireland’s most esteemed musical and artistic families. They have recorded and performed around the world as both a duo and a trio, with their mother, Nóirín Ní Riain. Their late father, composer Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, founded the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. Owen and Moley proudly continue their parents' legacy – bringing authentic Irish music and culture to a global audience.

The brothers' talents have caught the attention of some of the greats in the world of performance and the arts. Fans include Steven Spielberg, Russell Crowe, poet laureate Billy Collins and violinist Nigel Kennedy, and they’ve shared the stage with The Chieftains, Hugh Jackman, Bobby McFerrin, Sting, Sinead O’Connor and Riverdance composer Bill Whelan.

Owen and Moley's virtuosic vocal harmonies and wild sense of humor will make participants of all ages feel at ease – and entirely engaged and entertained.

Admission is free; donations are greatly appreciated.
