Jamila Davis
Seminary Intern
Jamelia Davis serves as West Side’s seminarian for the 2025–2026 program year. Originally from Shulerville, South Carolina, Jamelia brings a rich background as a classical singer, music educator, and emerging leader in ministry. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Georgia and a Master of Music from Southern Methodist University. Her performance career includes appearances with the Tulsa Opera, Opera Carolina, Spoleto Festival, and the American Spiritual Ensemble, as well as singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Now pursuing her Master of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary, where she also directs the seminary’s Gospel Choir, Jamelia combines her love of music and ministry in creative and deeply pastoral ways.
At West Side, Jamelia serves 15 hours per week from September through May, contributing to worship leadership, pastoral care, adult education, youth ministry, and music. She preaches twice during the year, leads a four-week Bible study, participates in programs like Hard Conversations and Sermon Talk Back, and sings in the Advent and Lent Oratorios.
Jamelia brings deep faith, creativity, and a heart for people to her ministry. Outside of church, she enjoys playing chess, caring for her 18 houseplants, and is affectionately known by many children as “Auntie Jay.”
