Narrative Medicine

Narrative Medicine

April 13, 2022 7:30pm

West Side's own Genevieve Lowry will show us how to deepen our listening and communication skills using a practice called Narrative Medicine. Together we’ll engage in a close examination of poetry or artwork and experience the power of story and voice as a tool for self-awareness, expressing mental and physical health, and improving our ability to listen to ourselves, family and friends. Be sure to have a pen and paper handy. After the discussion time, Genevieve will ask us to write a response to a prompt and share our work with the group. Click here to sign up for the Zoom link.

Genevieve has been a certified child life specialist since 1990. She is also trained in reiki, guided imagery, narrative medicine and trauma. Currently, she is a faculty course instructor and fieldwork advisor at Bank Street College of Education. She writes, presents and consults with a variety of organizations both locally and nationally.
