What does it mean to belong to a family? Family includes not just where we came from; family is defined as the people who love, care for and affirm us.
For 27 years, Nancy Dykstra-Powers, LCSW, was the director of Bethany Christian Services of NY/NJ/CT, the largest adoption agency in the country. Her role there, coupled with her current work as a psychotherapist, has given Nancy a deep understanding of the creation of a family through adoption from the perspective of the birth parents, child and adoptive parents.
